Kathy Lester has appeared in numerous commercials and stage productions, but when it comes to her career there’s one series of films that stand out above the rest. See, before Don Coscarelli was making stuff like The Beastmaster (1982), Bubba Ho-Tep (2002) and John Dies at the End (2012), he was writing, directing and having his dad largely fund the trippy horror flick Phantasm (1979). The movie, which has become a huge cult classic is about a kid struggling to deal with his parents death, where every scene could actually be happening or could just be one of his creepy dreams. That flick was a huge hit thanks to it’s surreal nature, and also because of Kathy’s role as the psychotic killer “Lady in Lavender”, which meant there were a bunch more Phantasm movies. The movie wouldn’t have been as big and those sequels probably wouldn’t have happened had late-70’s audiences realized the fantastic pair they had unbelievable orgasms thinking about weren’t actually Kathy’s, she was using a body double. Yes, the scenes where she pulls down her dress, unleashes her puppies then stabs an unlucky guy multiple times is all stunt boobies. The story goes that she didn’t want to do the scene without a closed set, so the crew found a much more well endowed young lady to stand in for her. Lest her pair be accused of being as nice as Lester’s, those days Kathy is happy to point out those bigums aren’t hers. Kathy moved on to appear in Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead (1994) and Phantasm: Ravager (2016) but never displayed her Lester chesters. While Kathy is always down to appear in a documentary about the making of the Phantasm movies, Kathy mostly left film and is now focusing on her music career. Her band has released a few CDs and toured all over the world. Curse the crew that wouldn’t clear out so we could see Kathy Lester’s lady lumps!
